UYO, Nigeria – The Police Command in Akwa Ibom has successfully rescued 10 pregnant women from a baby factory operated by a 56-year-old suspect, Eunice Eze. The announcement was made by the Commissioner of Police, Waheed Ayilara, during a briefing at the Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpanabia in Uyo on Tuesday.
Commissioner Ayilara reported that Eunice Eze, who specializes in running a baby factory at World Bank Estate in Owerri, was arrested on July 15 at 4:30 pm through actionable intelligence. Ayilara elaborated that Eze’s operations included stealing babies and pregnant women from Akwa Ibom, facilitated by her agent, Ability Tom. The suspect specializes in stealing babies and pregnant women from Akwa Ibom through her agent, Ability Tom,” he added.
The police also apprehended a wanted kidnapper in the state, responsible for multiple kidnappings and murders. Ayilara revealed that the police recovered two AK-47 rifles, two G3 rifles, one double-barrel rifle, five magazines, and seven live ammunition from the suspect. These firearms were found at a private mortuary used by the kidnapper and his syndicate in the Ekeya area of Okobo Local Government.
The Commissioner expressed gratitude to the state government, sister security agencies, and the community for their support and credible intelligence that led to the arrests. “The command looks forward to a more formidable collaboration from all as it strives to keep Akwa Ibom safer and more peaceful,” Ayilara concluded.
