Suspect Arrested in West Philadelphia Mass Shooting That Left Three Dead

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania – A 28-year-old man who was wounded in a mass shooting at a West Philadelphia party early Sunday has been arrested and charged as one of the gunmen involved in the violence, authorities announced on Tuesday.

Philadelphia Deputy Police Commissioner Frank Vanore revealed that the suspect, whose name has not been immediately released, faces three counts of murder and five counts of attempted murder. “Detectives, with assistance from the Philadelphia district attorney’s office, developed evidence to charge one of our shooting victims,” Vanore stated in a post on X. The specifics of the evidence leading to the suspect’s identification were not disclosed.

Investigators are actively working to identify other suspects involved in the shooting. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on the 1200 block of North Alden Street in the Carroll Park neighborhood of West Philadelphia during a party attended by over 100 people, according to police reports.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds, with numerous spent shell casings scattered in the area. “It appears that there were multiple shooters. It’s unclear at this time how many. But we have counted at least 25 to 30 spent shell casings,” reported Police Commissioner Pace. A gun was also recovered at the scene.
