The operation resulted in the arrest of two suspects on charges of kidnapping and human trafficking, with legal proceedings set to follow.

The following years saw further grim discoveries, with 30 Ethiopian migrants found in a mass grave in Malawi and 27 bodies of Ethiopian men dumped in Zambia in 2022.
