Following their victory over Nigeria’s D’Tigress, Team USA women’s basketball team is edging closer to securing their tenth consecutive gold medal at the Olympics.
With A’ja Wilson scoring 20 points and Jackie Young adding 15, the United States managed to triumph over Nigeria with a final score of 88–74. However, the match was tighter than Team USA might have anticipated for much of the first half.
Nigeria’s formidable defense kept the game close throughout the first quarter. Just before halftime, the United States began to pull away, but Nigeria remained competitive, staying within reach.
The US team, composed of WNBA stars, extended their lead significantly in the second half, at one point nearly doubling Nigeria’s score on the scoreboard. Despite this, Nigeria continued to fight and kept the game competitive.
