A shooting at a popular sports bar in El Monte has left one man dead and two women injured, with the suspect still at large, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The incident occurred around 12:09 a.m. Saturday in the 10700 block of Lower Azusa Road at the Silver Dollar Saloon. El Monte Police officers responded to reports of shots fired and found a Hispanic man with apparent gunshot wounds inside the bar. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second victim, identified as a Hispanic woman, was transported to a nearby hospital before officers arrived and is reported to be in stable condition. Witnesses informed police that a third victim, another woman, was also shot but left the scene. As of Saturday morning, authorities were still searching for her.
The shooting took place on a busy night at the Silver Dollar Saloon, a long-standing and popular establishment in the community. Many patrons had gathered to watch the Los Angeles Dodgers win Game 5 of the National League Division Series against the San Diego Padres. A DJ set was reportedly scheduled after the game.
Video footage from the scene showed a significant police presence, with officers interviewing witnesses as the area was cordoned off for investigation. A pickup truck was observed parked on the sidewalk, though its connection to the shooting, if any, was not immediately clear.
As the investigation continues, Lower Azusa Road remains closed between El Monte and Daleview avenues. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation and has urged anyone with information about the shooting or the suspect to come forward.
