Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to Undergo Prostate Surgery

Date:

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, 75, will undergo surgery to remove his prostate, his office announced on Saturday.

The procedure, scheduled for Sunday, follows Netanyahu’s diagnosis of a urinary tract infection caused by benign prostate enlargement. The prime minister has faced other health challenges in recent months, including hernia surgery earlier this year and a pacemaker implant in 2023.

The news comes as Israel continues its military campaign in Gaza, now in its 14th month, following Hamas-led attacks on October 7, which claimed approximately 1,200 Israeli lives and resulted in 250 people being abducted.

In northern Gaza, Israeli forces raided one of the last operational hospitals, detaining its director. The conflict has led to significant casualties, with the Hamas-run Palestinian health ministry reporting over 45,400 Palestinian deaths, including a substantial number of women and children, and more than 108,000 injuries.
