Man City Crush West Ham 4-1 as Haaland and Savinho Star

Date:

Manchester City secured their first back-to-back Premier League victories since October with a commanding 4-1 win over West Ham United, powered by Erling Haaland’s brace and Savinho’s creative brilliance. The victory keeps City sixth in the table but narrows the gap to fourth-placed Chelsea to just two points.

Despite West Ham’s aggressive start, City took control through Vladimir Coufal’s tenth-minute own goal, forced by Savinho’s cross. Haaland extended the lead before halftime, connecting with another Savinho delivery. The Brazilian-City combination proved lethal again after the break, with Savinho setting up Haaland’s second before Phil Foden added a fourth following a West Ham defensive error.

The result marked West Ham’s 19th consecutive Premier League defeat against City, a club record for losses against a single opponent. Niclas Fullkrug’s late consolation goal did little to soften the blow for Julen Lopetegui’s team, who remain 13th and eight points above relegation.

Savinho’s performance highlighted City’s resurgence, with the Brazilian completing both attempted dribbles and effectively creating three goals, though only two count officially as assists. The display followed his goal and assist against Leicester City last weekend, suggesting a key role in City’s improved form.

The champions dominated key statistics with 56% possession and seven shots on target from ten attempts, while West Ham managed four on target from seventeen shots. Both teams now turn their attention to FA Cup fixtures, with City hosting Salford City and West Ham traveling to Aston Villa.
