TALLANSTOWN, Ireland (BN24)ā A man in his 30s has been arrested after three people were found dead at a home in the rural village of Tallanstown, County Louth, on Monday morning, prompting a major investigation by Irish authorities.

GardaĆ, the national police force of Ireland, confirmed that two men and a woman were discovered deceased at the scene. Irish broadcaster RTĆ reported that the victims are believed to be members of the same family and may have died in a violent attack.
The suspect was taken into custody shortly after the bodies were found. GardaĆ continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths, but have indicated that they are not seeking additional suspects.
āThere is no ongoing threat to the public,ā said Irelandās Minister for Justice, Jim OāCallaghan. He declined to provide further details, citing the sensitivity of the investigation.
The violent deaths have left the tight-knit Mid Louth community in shock. Local Sinn FĆ©in TD RuairĆ Ć MurchĆŗ described the events as āabsolutely appalling,ā expressing sorrow over what he called ādreadful and violent circumstancesā that have deeply affected the area.
āThe fact that three members of one family seem to have died in dreadful and violent circumstances on a Monday morning in a quiet and rural area of Mid Louth is appalling,ā he said. āIt has absolutely stunned the community all over County Louth.ā
Ć MurchĆŗ urged the public to avoid speculation online and called on anyone with relevant information to come forward to the GardaĆ.
Fine Gael TD Paula Butterly also reacted to the tragedy, describing it as āabsolutely shocking.ā
āMy thoughts and prayers go out to the whole community and wider family members and friends,ā she said.
Fianna FĆ”il councillor John Sheridan, who knew the family personally through local events and the recent local elections, said the area was experiencing a āhuge degree of shock.ā
āItās the type of area where everyone would know everyone,ā he told RTĆās News at One program. āWe hear of tragic events quite often. We donāt expect them to happen in our own locality.ā
The Garda Technical Bureau remains on site in Tallanstown as part of the forensic investigation. No cause of death has yet been officially released, and the identities of the victims have not been confirmed publicly.
Authorities are continuing to appeal for any information that may assist the ongoing investigation.
