Two people were killed and another was left in critical condition after a shooting in East Oakland on Saturday night, authorities said.
Officers with the Oakland Police Department responded shortly before 8:15 p.m. to the 6400 block of Foothill Boulevard after receiving multiple alerts from a gunfire detection system indicating shots had been fired.
When officers arrived, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were taken to a nearby hospital, where one later died. The second victim remained in critical condition, police said.
A third victim, identified as a woman, was discovered a short distance away on the 2800 block of 64th Avenue. Emergency responders pronounced her dead at the scene.
