Secret Service Agent Removed from VP Harris’ Detail Due to ‘Distressing’ Behavior

Washington, D.C. – A Secret Service special agent assigned to Vice President Kamala Harris’ detail has been removed from their position after exhibiting “distressing” behavior, according to a statement from the agency’s chief of communications, Anthony Guglielmi.

The incident occurred on Monday morning at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, where the agent was involved in Harris’ departure for a trip to Wisconsin. Colleagues of the agent, whose identity has not been disclosed, found their behavior concerning and reported it to superiors.

“The agent was removed from their assignment while medical personnel were summoned,” Guglielmi stated, emphasizing that the incident did not take place in the presence of the vice president, who was at the Naval Observatory, her official residence, at the time. He further assured that the incident had no bearing on Harris’ departure.

Guglielmi underscored the Secret Service’s commitment to the well-being of its employees, stating, “The U.S. Secret Service takes the safety and health of our employees very seriously.” However, he declined to provide further details, citing the private nature of the medical matter.

The Washington Examiner was the first to report the incident, and there is still no information available about the specifics of the agent’s actions. The vice president’s office has not commented on the matter.

This incident serves as a reminder of the high standards and scrutiny faced by Secret Service agents tasked with protecting the nation’s top leaders. The agency remains committed to maintaining the safety and security of those under its protection while also prioritizing the well-being of its dedicated personnel.
