TikTok star Dr. Kimberely Nix, who gained nearly 150,000 followers while documenting her battle with metastatic sarcoma, passed away at the age of 31. In a heartfelt final video posted to her TikTok account on Wednesday, Dr. Nix bid farewell to her devoted followers and shared the news of her death.
In the caption of her last TikTok video, Dr. Nix expressed her gratitude, writing, “My journey here is over, and I can’t thank every one of you enough! You have all made me so happy, and your comments and support are more than enough to have gotten anyone through anything.”
For her emotional nine-minute video, Dr. Nix filmed one last “get ready with me” session, reflecting on her fulfilling life, cancer journey, and the support she received from her fans over the years. “Hello followers, if you’re seeing this message, I have passed away peacefully,” she began, welcoming new viewers to explore her content on sarcoma facts, information, and her lived experience with the disease.
Dr. Nix shared her gratitude for her beautiful life, including her career in medicine, raising sarcoma awareness, traveling, and creating a supportive community on TikTok. However, she broke down in tears when speaking about leaving her husband, Michael, whom she called “the love of my life.”
“My only sadness in dying is knowing that we didn’t get to grow old together. Everything else is bearable because that is the only thing that matters,” Dr. Nix said through tears.
In her final moments on camera, Dr. Nix thanked her followers once more for their love and support. “I just can’t thank you all enough for being so supportive of your comments, for cheering me on, and for helping us feel not alone in this process. This community has meant the absolute world to me, and I can’t thank you enough,” she said, smiling as she showed off her “finished” makeup look and waved goodbye.
Dr. Nix, who was from Calgary, Alberta, was diagnosed with undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma, a rare soft tissue cancer, at the age of 28 during the last year of her internal medicine core residency. She is survived by her husband, Michael, and her parents.
