Nicki Minaj Livestreams Own ‘Arrest’ in Amsterdam, Accused of Carrying Drugs

Nicki Minaj, the renowned hip-hop star, found herself in a controversial situation during her ongoing Pink Friday 2 Tour when she livestreamed her own ‘arrest’ in Amsterdam. The 41-year-old rapper was accused by police of carrying drugs in her luggage, adding to the series of recent incidents involving celebrities and on-stage mishaps.

Just last Saturday, Minaj narrowly avoided being hit in the face by a bracelet thrown at her during a concert in Detroit. The incident, captured by numerous fan videos online, showed the rapper angrily hurling the object back into the crowd before composing herself and continuing with the show. This follows similar worrying incidents involving other artists such as Bebe Rexha, Harry Styles, and Kelsea Ballerini.

Despite the shocking moment occurring while performing her 2012 hit “Starships,” which she once called “a stupid song” that she “doesn’t like,” Minaj didn’t let it ruin her evening. The 12-time Grammy nominee later took to Instagram, where she boasts 353M followers, to call the concert “next level” and express her love for Detroit.

Minaj was joined on stage in Michigan by six-time Grammy nominee Big Sean and Honey Pack rapper-singer Sada Baby. The Trinidad-born, New York-raised star recently received good news when a judge granted her husband, Kenneth Petty, permission to travel internationally with her for the Pink Friday 2 World Tour. Petty, who is serving three years probation for failing to register as a sex offender in California, will serve as the primary caregiver for their three-year-old son while Minaj is working.

The couple’s relationship has been the subject of controversy, as Minaj was only 16 when she first met Petty, who served a combined 11 years in prison for raping a 16-year-old girl in 1995 and shooting a man to death in 2002.

As the Big Difference rapper, who garners 51.1M monthly listeners on Spotify, continues her 59-date world tour, the incident in Amsterdam has added an unexpected twist to her journey. Minaj is next scheduled to perform at the United Center in Chicago this Wednesday and Thursday.

The livestreamed ‘arrest’ in Amsterdam and the accusations of carrying drugs have raised questions about the challenges celebrities face while touring and the scrutiny they are subjected to by authorities. As the story unfolds, fans and the media alike await further details about the incident and its potential impact on Nicki Minaj’s ongoing Pink Friday 2 Tour.
