Ghanaian Alumna Adiza Issaka Aims to Set Guinness World Record for Largest Skirt

Stephilar Adiza Issaka Nwaala, an alumna of BlueCrest College, has been given the green light to pursue an ambitious Guinness World Record attempt for creating the largest skirt ever made. The record-breaking endeavor is set to take place from May 31 to June 4, 2024, between 9am and 6pm, at BlueCrest College.

In an exclusive interview with NEWSONE, Adiza Issaka shared her lifelong passion for sewing and designing, stating, “I have devoted myself to bringing this extraordinary project to fruition. I am undertaking this ambitious venture to establish a new Guinness World Record for creating the largest skirt ever made in African and global history.” She emphasized that the success of the attempt will not be measured by speed but rather by the size of the skirt, with a focus on quality.

Adiza’s motivation for sewing the world’s largest skirt extends beyond personal achievement. She aims to make a tangible impact on the lives of those in need by raising awareness about the importance of providing clothing for the less fortunate. Through her creative endeavor, she hopes to inspire fellow young individuals to courageously pursue their passions and push themselves beyond their limits.

The record-setting attempt also serves as a platform for Adiza to promote generosity and solicit donations to support her cause of clothing the underprivileged. She remarked, “Each stitch symbolises progress towards warmth, dignity, and hope for those enduring adversity. Join me, Ghana, in this thrilling pursuit as we sew our way to greatness and establish a legacy that will endure for generations. Let’s demonstrate the transformative power of sewing to the world.”

Adiza Issaka’s impressive track record includes serving as the SRC Women’s Commissioner for 2020/2021 and being recognized as the best outgoing student in the fashion department at BlueCrest in 2022. She has also received the Most Progressive Student award at the 2019 end-of-semester fashion showcase and secured third place out of 35 participants in Franken Style, a sustainable fashion event, among other accolades.

As the ambitious Guinness World Record attempt approaches, all eyes will be on Adiza Issaka and her quest to create the largest skirt in history. Her dedication to sewing, combined with her commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others, has garnered widespread support and admiration. The world eagerly awaits the outcome of this extraordinary endeavor, which has the potential to inspire a new generation of creative minds and change-makers.
