Actor Tom Guiry, Known for Role in “The Sandlot,” Arrested for Alleged Assault and Property Damage

Tom Guiry, the actor who rose to fame for his portrayal of Smalls in the classic baseball movie “The Sandlot,” has found himself in legal trouble after an alleged incident in Horry County, South Carolina. According to the Horry County Sheriff’s Office, Guiry was arrested on June 2 following a disturbance call.

Video footage obtained by TMZ appears to show Guiry throwing a large dumbbell onto the windshield of a white Jeep, shattering it completely. The video then depicts Guiry walking across two front lawns before entering a residence, as the dumbbell rolls down the hood of the damaged vehicle.

Deputies responded to the scene and found Guiry in the middle of the street. They report that Guiry was inquiring about his wife when the owner of the damaged Jeep confronted him about the shattered window. According to the sheriff’s office, Guiry allegedly replied, “That sucks man, I’ll pay you back, I’m sorry, I’m gonna get you back … I … sorry brother, I’ll pay you back.”

The owner of the Jeep told deputies that Guiry had used a 35-pound dumbbell to cause the damage. Additionally, the victim alleged that Guiry had approached his door and rung the doorbell while holding a knife, a claim that appears to align with the video footage.

Guiry was ultimately arrested and booked on charges of assault, disorderly conduct, and malicious damage to property. This is not the actor’s first brush with the law; in 2013, he was arrested in Texas for allegedly attempting to kick a police officer in the face and landing a headbutt.

The incident has shocked fans who remember Guiry fondly for his role in the 1993 coming-of-age sports movie “The Sandlot,” in which he played the character of Scott Smalls, a young boy who learns to play baseball and navigates friendships during a memorable summer.

TMZ reached out to Guiry’s representatives for comment but has not yet received a response. The story will be updated as more information becomes available.
