MIAMI (BN24) — Argentine international Rodrigo De Paul is heading to Major League Soccer after completing a move from Atlético Madrid to Inter Miami, the Spanish club announced Friday.

“Rodrigo De Paul bids farewell to Atlético Madrid and will continue his professional career at Inter Miami,” read a statement from the LaLiga side, confirming the end of the 31-year-old’s four-year stint in Spain’s capital.
De Paul reunites with longtime friend and national team teammate Lionel Messi in Miami, joining a growing contingent of Argentina stars at the MLS club. The pair were key members of the Argentine squads that won the 2021 Copa América, the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and the 2022 Finalissima.
While De Paul made nearly 200 appearances for Atlético under fellow Argentine Diego Simeone, he leaves the club without having lifted a major trophy. His combative style and midfield versatility were hallmarks of his time in Spain, even as team silverware remained elusive.

The Rosario-born midfielder began his career with Racing Club in Argentina before moving to Valencia in 2014. A successful spell at Udinese in Italy’s Serie A between 2016 and 2021 helped cement his reputation as a creative and hard-working central midfielder, eventually leading to his move to Atlético.
At Inter Miami, De Paul becomes the latest high-profile addition alongside Messi, Jordi Alba, Luis Suárez, and Sergio Busquets, as the club continues to build a formidable squad aiming for MLS supremacy.
