By Rudy Giuliani’s 80th birthday party in Palm Beach, Florida, attended by prominent MAGA figures such as Roger Stone and Steve Bannon, took a dramatic turn as Arizona officials served him with an indictment related to the “fake electors” case just after 11 pm.
The star-studded celebration, held at the home of top GOP consultant Caroline Wren, featured Giuliani belting out “New York, New York” with a Frank Sinatra cover band and recording an hour-long episode of his “America’s Mayor Live” show. Guests sang “Happy Birthday” and presented the former New York mayor with a patriotic red, white, and blue frosted cake.
However, the festive atmosphere was shattered when two officials from the Arizona attorney general’s office served Giuliani with notice of his indictment, accusing him and others of attempting to overturn the 2020 election results in Arizona. Despite the gravity of the situation, an attendee reported that “the mayor was completely unfazed and even laughed as he was handed the papers and drove away.”
Guests at the party were visibly outraged, with some shouting at the officials serving the papers and others left in tears. They perceived the incident as an attempt to humiliate and intimidate Giuliani and his friends.
Earlier in the evening, Giuliani had taunted Arizona officials on social media platform X, suggesting they were running out of time to serve him in the case. Prosecutors had been trying for weeks to deliver official notice of his required appearance in court on May 21.
Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes declared victory shortly after the papers were served, posting on X, “The final defendant was served moments ago. @RudyGiuliani nobody is above the law.”
Caroline Wren expressed her disappointment with the Arizona secretary of state’s office, criticizing their decision to send agents across the country to serve the indictment during Giuliani’s birthday celebration. She characterized the move as an attempt by the Left to silence, indict, and humiliate those they fear, citing Giuliani’s status as one of the greatest prosecutors in American history and a strong voice in the America First movement.
Giuliani’s spokesman, Ted Goodman, stated that the former mayor was unfazed by the episode and enjoyed an incredible evening with hundreds of supporters from all walks of life. He expressed confidence in Giuliani’s eventual vindication.
Several members of Donald Trump’s inner circle, including his former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, legal adviser Boris Epshteyn, and former campaign aide Mike Roman, have also been indicted in the Arizona case. Although Trump himself is not named in the indictment, he is believed to be referred to as “Unindicted Coconspirator 1.”
The indictment alleges that the defendants and unindicted coconspirators schemed to prevent the lawful transfer of the presidency to keep “Unindicted Coconspirator 1” in office against the will of Arizona’s voters, despite Joseph Biden’s victory in the state on November 3, 2020.
The dramatic events at Giuliani’s birthday party highlight the ongoing legal challenges faced by key figures in the MAGA movement and the continuing fallout from the disputed 2020 presidential election.
