Barcelona Defeats Young Boys 5-0 in Champions League Rout

Barcelona was outstanding in their performance in their Champions League match against Young Boys on Tuesday, securing a resounding 5-0 victory at Camp Nou. 

Robert Lewandowski led the charge with two goals, while Raphinha and Inigo Martinez also found the net. An own goal from Young Boys’ Mohamed Ali Camara completed the rout.

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick said, “This performance demonstrates the quality and depth of our squad. It’s the kind of statement we wanted to make in the Champions League.”

The hosts took an early lead in the 8th minute when Lewandowski tapped in Raphinha’s low cross. Raphinha himself doubled the advantage shortly after the half-hour mark, capitalizing on a deflected shot from Pedri.

Martinez added a third with a well-placed header from Pedri’s free-kick just before halftime, cementing Barcelona’s dominance.

Lewandowski struck again shortly after the restart, once more finding himself in the right place to convert a headed pass from Martinez.

Young Boys’ best chance came when Joel Monteiro hit the woodwork, but any hopes of a consolation were dashed when Camara’s attempted clearance resulted in an own goal in the 80th minute.

The match also saw the return of Frenkie de Jong from injury, boosting Barcelona’s midfield options for upcoming fixtures.
