Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s Legal Battle Intensifies Over Winery NDA

The legal skirmish between Oscar-winning actor Brad Pitt and his ex-wife Angelina Jolie has taken a new turn, focusing on a contentious non-disclosure agreement (NDA) tied to their Miraval winery. The agreement includes a clause that prevents either party from denigrating Miraval Provence and its direct and indirect shareholders, including Pitt. However, the clause does allow them to make claims about each other in their legal proceedings, such as divorce and child custody cases.

The center of interest; the winery

In a motion addressing Jolie’s grievances with the NDA, Pitt’s legal team counters that Jolie’s description of the NDA as a “callous and mean-spirited demand” is misplaced. They argue that her requests for information aim not to uncover relevant evidence but to embarrass Pitt.

“Jolie cannot meet her burden to show that the relevance of the documents she seeks outweighs Pitt’s countervailing privacy interests — particularly given the publicity surrounding the parties and this case,” reads the filing.

This legal contention follows allegations from Jolie accusing Pitt of “looting” winery assets, likening his actions to that of “a petulant child.” Despite these accusations, Pitt’s team maintains that the NDA was essential to protect both parties’ interests and the value of the winery.

As the former couple continues their high-profile legal battle, the focus remains on the Miraval negotiations and the implications of the NDA on their ongoing disputes. The public scrutiny surrounding their case underscores the challenges of balancing privacy and transparency in celebrity legal matters.
