The semifinal match between Zverev and Ruud was also highly anticipated, with both players seeking their first Grand Slam title. Zverev, who reached an out-of-court settlement in his domestic abuse case earlier in the day, has been the runner-up at the 2020 U.S. Open and lost in the French Open semifinals each of the past three years. Ruud, meanwhile, is a three-time finalist at majors, including losses to Nadal in the 2022 French Open and Djokovic in the 2023 edition.
As the future of men’s tennis, Alcaraz and Sinner delivered a captivating match that showcased their immense talent and potential, despite combining for 102 unforced errors.
