The ex-WCW Tag Team Champion, who once partnered with Buff Bagwell, now faces serious legal troubles stemming from the June 15 altercation.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ Sports, the bloody confrontation occurred around 3:40 AM. Scaggs, who claims he was working as a security guard at the gas station, alleges that he confronted a man for smoking inside the establishment. The situation quickly escalated, leading to a physical altercation outside the store.
Scaggs maintains that he acted in self-defense, stating that the man became aggressive and attempted to grapple with him. The former wrestler claims he pulled a knife from his pocket and stabbed the man during the ensuing scuffle, which continued for several moments.
However, the victim’s account differs significantly. Speaking to TMZ Sports, he denies lighting up inside the store, suggesting that his cigarette may not have been fully extinguished upon entering. The victim also contends that Scaggs was the aggressor in the situation, contradicting the wrestler’s self-defense claim.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they found the victim lying on the ground, bleeding from multiple stab wounds to his head, chest, buttocks, legs, and abdomen. The injured man was reportedly going in and out of consciousness as he was transported to a local hospital.
As a result of the incident, Scaggs has been charged with two felonies: one count of first-degree assault and one count of armed criminal action. After posting bond, he entered a plea of not guilty to both charges. A court hearing is scheduled for next month to address the case further.
