Four Dangerous Inmates, Including ThreeDouble-Murder Suspects, Break Jail

A manhunt is underway for four inmates who escaped from a Louisiana jail, including three who are charged with murder. The inmates made their escape from Tangipahoa Parish Jail on Sunday, May 26, during their recreation time in the yard, according to Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards.

In a statement shared on Facebook, Sheriff Edwards revealed that an inspection of the fence showed a section had been manipulated to allow a small body to slip through. The escaped inmates have been identified as Omarion Hookfin, 19, of Hammond; Avery Guidry, 19, of Natalbany; Jamarcus Cyprian, 20, of Amite; and Travon Johnson, 21, of Natalbany.

Johnson, Hookfin, and Guidry were incarcerated for their alleged involvement in a 2022 homicide in Hammond, Louisiana, while Cyprian was serving time for armed robbery and weapon charges. Additionally, Hookfin faces charges of aggravated battery from an unrelated incident at a different jail.

According to local station WWL-TV, Johnson, Hookfin, and Guidry are accused of breaking into a home and fatally shooting Donte Perry and his 12-year-old daughter. Authorities report that the girl was shot 10 times.

Sheriff Edwards has urged anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspects to call 911 or Crime Stoppers Tangipahoa’s anonymous tip line at 800-554-5245.
