An Indian Army soldier was killed during an overnight encounter with terrorists in the Sopore region of Jammu and Kashmir, officials confirmed Monday. Sepoy Pangala Kartheek sustained injuries during a gunfight at a militant hideout in Zaloora Gujjarpati and died en route to medical assistance.
Security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation Sunday evening after locating the hideout. According to officials, the terrorists opened fire, triggering a prolonged exchange of gunfire. Vigil was maintained overnight, and the search for militants intensified Monday morning.
The Srinagar-based Chinar Corps paid tribute to the fallen soldier, stating on social media, “All Ranks of the Chinar Corps salute the supreme sacrifice of Braveheart Swr Pangala Kartheek, who laid down his life in the line of duty. We express deepest condolences and stand in solidarity with the bereaved family.”
