Jamie Foxx Breaks Silence on Near-Death Experience, Reveals 20-Day Hospitalization

Date:

Jamie Foxx has finally revealed details about his mysterious hospitalization in April 2023, which left him fighting for his life. The 56-year-old Oscar-winning actor, speaking to fans in Phoenix, disclosed that his medical emergency began with a severe headache while filming “Back in Action” with Cameron Diaz in Atlanta.

Foxx described the onset of his illness, saying he initially asked for Advil before waking up almost three weeks later with no memory of what had transpired. “I was gone for 20 days,” Foxx stated, snapping his fingers to emphasize the suddenness of the event. He added that he “does not remember anything” from that period.

The actor’s sister and daughter took him to his first doctor, with subsequent medical professionals identifying a serious issue. Foxx pointed to his head, saying, “Next doctor said, ‘[There’s] something going on up there,'” though he refrained from providing specific details on camera.

In December 2023, during his first public appearance since the health scare at the Critics Choice Association’s event, Foxx revealed the severity of his condition. “I saw the tunnel but not the light,” he said, admitting that he couldn’t walk just six months prior to the event.

Foxx expressed a newfound appreciation for life and his art following the experience. He also addressed conspiracy theories that had circulated during his absence, humorously stating, “I’m not a clone, I’m not a clone.”

The actor has since returned to work on both “Beat Shazam” and his Netflix film “Back in Action,” set for release on November 15, 2024. His daughter Corrine recently told ET that he’s doing “amazing” and has taken up pickleball as a new hobby.

Foxx plans to reveal more details about his health scare in an upcoming comedy special, indicating that his recovery continues to progress positively.
