UPDATE: Kenyan Killings, Five More Bodies Retrieved from Dumpsite

Date:

Nairobi, Kenya, July 2024 – Authorities have recovered five additional bodies from the Kware dumpsite in Mukuru Kwa Njenga, Kenya, bringing the total number of bodies retrieved to more than 15. The gruesome discovery has shocked the local community and raised concerns over the safety and security in the area.

The bodies, all tied in sacks, were discovered during an ongoing search operation. By 2:30 PM, fears grew that the number of bodies would continue to rise as the search efforts progressed. A large crowd gathered at the scene, anxious to witness the developments amid rising tensions.

Investigation and Recovery Efforts

Detectives from the Homicide Unit at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters are leading the investigation. They have urged the public for patience as they work to uncover the truth behind these deaths and the subsequent dumping of bodies at the site, which was formerly a quarry now repurposed as a dumpsite.

The search operation has been painstakingly slow, with teams employing local residents to lower ropes and retrieve the bodies from the dump. A boat was also brought to the scene to aid in the search and recovery mission.

Continuing Mystery and Human Rights Concerns

The mystery surrounding the mutilated bodies found in the Mukuru Kwa Njenga slums of Nairobi deepens, with additional sacks of polythene bags being retrieved on the second day of the search. Human rights groups have voiced their concerns, anticipating that the number of bodies could increase further.

The DCI officials, along with the homicide team and the Recce squad, are on-site, working tirelessly to manage the retrieval and ongoing investigation. The authorities have yet to determine the identities of the deceased or the circumstances leading to their deaths.
