According to the police report, the matter was brought to their attention by the deceased’s daughter, Precious Apeh, who filed a complaint at approximately 5:00 pm on Monday. Precious Apeh informed the authorities that her father had been involved in a dispute with his tenant at around 7:20 pm on Saturday, stemming from the tenant’s failure to pay the due house rent.
The police spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, revealed that Precious Apeh recounted hearing her father arguing with the tenant in front of their house at around 6:30 am on Sunday. During the altercation, the tenant allegedly threatened to kill the landlord. Tragically, amidst the heated exchange, Benjamin Apeh collapsed and was immediately rushed to the NNPC Hospital in Mosimi. However, despite medical intervention, the attending doctor later confirmed his death.
In the aftermath of the incident, the suspect fled the scene, prompting the police to launch a manhunt to apprehend the individual. Detectives, led by SP Temitope Fapohunda, visited the location to gather evidence and photograph the scene. The police have assured the public that further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
SP Omolola Odutola emphasized that a thorough investigation into the case has been initiated, and the deceased’s body has been deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) Morgue in Sagamu for further examination.
