FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (BN24) — NBA forward Marcus Morris Sr., a 13-year league veteran, was arrested Sunday in Broward County, Florida, on a felony fraud charge, according to public booking records.

The 34-year-old was taken into custody over the weekend, though details surrounding the alleged offense have not yet been disclosed. Authorities have not released an official statement, and attempts to reach law enforcement for comment were unsuccessful as of Monday afternoon.
Morris, who most recently played during the 2023–2024 NBA season, split his time between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Over his career, the Kansas product has averaged 12 points and 4.4 rebounds across 832 games, bringing veteran presence and scoring versatility to multiple rosters.

This isn’t Morris’ first brush with the legal system. In 2012, he entered a diversion program related to a battery charge, and in 2017, he was acquitted of aggravated assault stemming from a 2015 incident in Phoenix involving an alleged fight outside a recreation center.
The twin brother of fellow NBA player Markieff Morris, Marcus has long been known for his on-court toughness and no-nonsense demeanor. He was selected 14th overall in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets and has since played for several franchises including the Suns, Pistons, Celtics, Knicks, Clippers, Sixers, and Cavs.
As of Monday evening, no court date had been publicly announced, and Morris had not issued a statement regarding the arrest.
