New York Woman Convicted of Murder in 2021 Stabbing Case

Date:

Catskill, New York – Following a month-long trial and three days of deliberation, Carrie Weiser, 32, was convicted on Thursday of second-degree murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of 68-year-old Scott Myers on November 27, 2021.

Police responded to Myers’s apartment where they discovered him suffering from a stab wound to the left side of his neck, severing his carotid artery. Despite efforts to save him, Myers succumbed to his injuries, as confirmed by New York State Police reports.

Carrie Weiser, 32, was convicted on Thursday of second-degree murder

In December 2021, a Grand Jury indicted Weiser on charges of second-degree murder and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. The trial was marked by intense scrutiny, including claims from the defense that Weiser acted in self-defense, alleging Myers had intended to assault her.

District Attorney Stanzione, in a press release issued on June 28, praised the jury’s meticulous review of the evidence, emphasizing their thorough consideration of the prosecution’s case and dismissal of defense arguments. The jury unanimously found Weiser guilty, affirming the prosecution’s assertion that she unlawfully caused Myers’s death.

Carrie Weiser is now awaiting sentencing, scheduled for August 27, marking the conclusion of a legal process that has captivated and divided the community since the tragic incident in 2021.
