Nigerian Police Summon Nollywood Actress Tonto Dikeh for Investigation on Forgery

Date:

The Nigerian Police Force has officially invited Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh to its headquarters in connection with an ongoing investigation into allegations of criminal defamation, forgery, falsehood, cyberbullying, and criminal conversion. This development comes as the police intensify their probe into serious accusations that have surfaced against the actress.

The invitation, issued on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, is being managed by the IGP Monitoring Unit. The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed that the case is being handled by this specialized unit.

A letter dated August 5, 2024, and signed by the Head of the IGP Monitoring Unit, DCP AA. Elleman, revealed that Tonto Dikeh’s name prominently features in the ongoing investigation. The letter outlined the nature of the accusations, stating, “This office is investigating a case of criminal defamation, forgery, falsehood, cyberbullying, and criminal conversion reported to the Inspector-General of Police, in which your name and others feature prominently.”

Dikeh has been requested to attend an interview with the police on August 7, 2024, at 10:00 AM, to provide further insight into the allegations. The invitation letter stressed the importance of her cooperation, noting, “Your usual cooperation in this regard would be highly appreciated.”

According to ACP Adejobi, Dikeh’s invitation followed a petition filed against her. The spokesperson also confirmed that after responding to the police invitation, Tonto Dikeh was allowed to leave, as the investigation remains ongoing. “She was only invited to respond to a petition filed against her, and she has since left the unit while the investigation continues,” Adejobi stated.
