Pro-Palestine Protester at UCLA Caught on Camera Making Racist Comments to Counter-Demonstrator

A woman participating in a pro-Palestine demonstration at the UCLA encampment in Southern California was caught on camera making openly racist comments to a counter-demonstrator on Saturday, according to a report by DailyMail.com.

The woman caught altering racist slurs.

The woman, who was waving a Palestinian flag and chanting “Free Palestine,” angrily told the counter-demonstrator, “You’re just a white person. Get out. We don’t like white people!” The footage was captured by skeptical journalist Cam Higby, who had suggested to the protester that she was “just being mad that Hamas is hiding behind civilians.”

In later tweets, Higby explained that the woman attempted to attack him after he filmed her and that she had been speaking Arabic and screaming about Jewish colonizers during her time at the protest.

The incident occurred amid a series of protests and encampments at various universities across the country, including Northeastern University in Boston, Arizona State University, and Indiana University. On Saturday, police detained more than 200 people at these demonstrations.

University administrators have been grappling with the challenge of balancing commitments to free expression with complaints that the rallies have veered into anti-Semitism and hate speech. Police have carried out large-scale arrests at universities in recent days, sometimes using chemical irritants and tasers to disperse demonstrators.

Northeastern University stated that the protests on its campus had been “infiltrated by professional organizers with no affiliation to Northeastern” and that detained individuals who produced a valid school ID would face disciplinary proceedings but not legal action.

Meanwhile, Columbia University in New York, where the protests originated, announced that it would not be calling police back to campus after more than 100 arrests last week. However, the school signaled that it had barred Khymani James, a leader of the campus protests, from campus due to his past comments threatening violence against Zionists.

The protests have also spread to Canada, with McGill University in Montreal seeing its first campus protest camp on Saturday. The school stated that such encampments are not permitted and increase the potential for escalation and confrontation. Credit: DailyMail.com
