Chicago Police Department Officer Julio Garcia confirmed that a number of victims were struck by gunfire, though he did not immediately provide specifics on how many people were injured or the circumstances surrounding the attack. Emergency responders rushed the wounded to area hospitals. Chris King, a spokesperson for Northwestern Medicine, said the hospital’s emergency department was treating several people who had been injured in the incident.
