HOVE, England (BN24) — Six schoolgirls between the ages of 12 and 13 have been arrested after a 13-year-old girl was injured in a group assault described by police as “deeply troubling.”

The incident took place shortly before 6 p.m. on Friday, August 15, in Wish Park, according to Sussex Police. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment and later discharged.
Three girls — a 12-year-old and two 13-year-olds from Brighton — were initially detained on suspicion of assault. Police later confirmed that three more suspects, another 12-year-old and two 13-year-olds, had also been arrested in connection with the attack.
Chief Inspector Simon Marchant of the Brighton Neighbourhood Policing Team said the assault has raised significant concern within the community. “Our officers have now arrested all of the young people we wanted to speak with in connection with the report, and wider enquiries remain underway,” he said.
Authorities are also investigating reports of video footage of the incident circulating online. Marchant urged the public not to share the material or speculate about the case, warning that doing so could interfere with ongoing legal proceedings.
“This case is being fully and robustly investigated, and if you have information to report, we ask you to come forward and speak with police,” Marchant added.
