Snoop Dogg to Carry Olympic Torch in Paris Games’ Final Stretch

American rap icon Snoop Dogg is set to join the prestigious lineup of Olympic torchbearers, carrying the flame through Saint-Denis in the final stretch before the Paris Games’ opening ceremony on Friday. The 52-year-old artist will participate in this historic event in the northern Paris suburb, home to the Stade de France Olympic Stadium.

Mathieu Hanotin, mayor of Saint-Denis, announced the news on social media platform X, stating, “Saint Denis: last step before the Eiffel Tower. An international cast @SnoopDogg for the last stretch of the Olympic Flame.” This announcement highlights the global appeal and diverse representation in the Olympic torch relay.

Snoop Dogg’s participation extends beyond his role as a torchbearer. The rapper is also contributing to NBC Primetime’s coverage of the Games, bringing his unique perspective and star power to the Olympic broadcast.

In the sports world, Snoop Dogg is well-known for his Snoop Youth Football League, a community initiative that culminates in the annual “Snooper Bowl” championship game. This connection to grassroots sports adds an interesting dimension to his involvement in the Olympic ceremony.

The torch relay through Saint-Denis will feature other notable personalities alongside Snoop Dogg. French actress Laetitia Casta and renowned French rapper MC Solaar are also slated to carry the Olympic flame, creating a star-studded procession leading up to the Games’ official start.

This diverse group of torchbearers reflects the Olympic spirit of unity and global representation. Snoop Dogg’s inclusion, in particular, symbolizes the bridging of popular culture with the time-honored traditions of the Olympic Games.

As the Paris Olympics prepare to commence, the participation of high-profile figures like Snoop Dogg in the torch relay adds an extra layer of excitement and global interest to the event. It underscores the Games’ ability to bring together individuals from various backgrounds and fields, uniting them in the celebration of sport and international cooperation.
