Tragedy at Nigerian University as Female Student Throws Newborn Baby from Hostel, Resulting in Infant’s Death

In a shocking incident at Federal University Dutse (FUD) in Jigawa State, Nigeria, a 200-level female student allegedly threw her own newborn baby from the upstairs of the female hostel, leading to the infant’s instant death. The Jigawa Police Command spokesperson, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the incident and provided details of the tragic event.

According to DSP Adam, the female student gave birth to a baby girl and subsequently threw the infant down from the hostel’s upper level. The baby was immediately rushed to Rasheed Shekoni Teaching Hospital in Dutse, where the doctor on duty pronounced the infant dead upon arrival.

Reliable sources revealed that a team of police officers promptly arrived at the crime scene and transported both the baby and the mother to the hospital. The suspect was admitted and is currently responding to therapy.

DSP Adam stated, “Information from reliable sources revealed that a 200-level student of Federal University Dutse (FUD) gave birth to a baby girl and thereafter threw her down from a female upstairs hostel, as a result, the infant died instantly.”

The police spokesperson further noted that an investigation into the incident is ongoing, as authorities work to uncover the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.

The news of the infant’s death has sent shockwaves through the university community and the nation at large, raising concerns about the mental health and well-being of students in higher education institutions. The incident also highlights the need for increased support systems and resources for expectant mothers and new parents within the student population.
