Prince William and Kate Middleton Donate Money After Hurricane Beryl Hits Caribbean

Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton have extended a helping hand following the devastation caused by Hurricane Beryl, a category 4 storm that swept through the Caribbean.

According to a report from People on Thursday, July 4, the royal couple made a private donation to support those affected by the hurricane, which recently ravaged areas including Jamaica and the Cayman Islands. Reuters reported that at least 10 people lost their lives due to the storm.

King Charles III, William’s father, expressed his condolences and solidarity with the affected countries within the Commonwealth. In a statement addressing the hurricane’s impact, he remarked on the profound sadness felt by his family over the destruction and loss of life. He commended the resilience and unity displayed by Caribbean communities in the face of such adversity, acknowledging the efforts of emergency services and volunteers in the ongoing rescue and recovery operations.

Hurricane Beryl marked the first major storm to hit Jamaica since 2007 and is currently forecasted to move towards Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, triggering weather alerts for areas near Cancun, Playa Del Carmen, and Tulum, as reported by ABC News.

The charitable gesture from William and Kate comes amidst personal challenges for the royal family. Earlier this year, both Charles and Kate disclosed their battles with cancer, although specific details about their health conditions have not been publicly disclosed.

While Kate has reduced her official royal engagements to focus on her health, William has provided updates on her progress during public appearances. In May, he reassured the public about Kate’s wellbeing during a visit to St. Mary’s Community Hospital, where he mentioned she was responding positively to treatment.

Kate recently made a public return alongside her family at London’s annual Trooping the Colour ceremony in June, where she openly discussed the ups and downs of her health journey. Expressing gratitude for the supportive messages received, she acknowledged the challenges of undergoing chemotherapy treatment, emphasizing the importance of patience and self-care.

As she continues her recovery, Kate plans to engage in limited work from home, adapting to the uncertainties of her health with resilience and appreciation for the supportive community around her.
