Colombian Suspect Arrested in Bristol Human Remains Case as Investigation Expands to London

Date:

In a significant development in the investigation of human remains found near Bristol’s Clifton Suspension Bridge, armed officers from Avon and Somerset Police have arrested a 34-year-old suspect at a Bristol train station. This arrest comes after police took the unusual step of naming Yostin Andres Mosquera, 34, as a suspect in the case.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed on Saturday morning that further human remains were discovered at a flat in Shepherd’s Bush, west London, linked to the Bristol findings. Deputy Assistant Commissioner Andy Valentine stated, “This is a significant development in our investigation and I would like to thank the public for their support.”

Key developments in the case include:

1. Human remains found in two suitcases near Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol.

2. Additional remains discovered at a flat in Scott’s Road, Shepherd’s Bush, London.

3. Police believe there are two male victims, both thought to be known to the suspect.

4. One autopsy was deemed “inconclusive,” while a second post-mortem examination is ongoing.

5. Crime scenes are in place in both Bristol and London.

The Metropolitan Police have stated that while formal identification is yet to take place, they believe they know the identities of the two male victims. Efforts are underway to locate and inform their next of kin.

Authorities have emphasized that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident at this time. However, they continue to encourage members of the public to come forward with any relevant information.

As the investigation unfolds across two major cities, police presence will remain heightened in the affected areas of Bristol and London to reassure local communities. Anyone with information is urged to contact the police on 101, quoting CAD 306/12JUL, or to reach out to Crimestoppers anonymously.

This case highlights the complexities of modern criminal investigations and the importance of cross-city police cooperation in solving serious crimes.
