Celebrity Chef Justin Sutherland Arrested for Alleged Gun Threat Against Girlfriend

Date:

Celebrity chef Justin Sutherland, known for his role on TruTV’s “Fast Foodies,” has been arrested and charged with felony threats of violence in Minnesota’s Ramsey County District Court. The charges stem from an incident on Friday, June 28, where Sutherland allegedly threatened his girlfriend with a gun.

According to a criminal complaint obtained by local NBC affiliate KARE 11, a woman reported to police that Sutherland, 40, pointed a gun at her, hit her in the chest with the weapon, and threatened to shoot her if she returned. The complaint also alleges that Sutherland put his hands around her neck and expressed a desire for her death.

Sutherland’s attorney, John Daly, vehemently denies all allegations, stating that the criminal complaint is “riddled with falsehoods.” Daly asserts that Sutherland never threatened to shoot anyone or physically assault his girlfriend, and looks forward to the truth emerging as the court process unfolds.

The chef appeared in court on Monday, July 1, and was released on his own recognizance. He was ordered to surrender any guns in his possession to the police within 24 hours. Sutherland’s next court appearance is scheduled for August 16.

This incident marks a significant turn of events for Sutherland, who has previously appeared on several TV shows, including “Top Chef” and “Iron Chef America.” In July 2022, he made headlines after sustaining serious injuries in a boating accident, from which he has since recovered.

As the legal process unfolds, the culinary community and fans of Sutherland await further developments in this case. Us Weekly has reached out to Sutherland’s attorney for additional comment.
