Cristiano Ronaldo’s “Wife” Comment at Globe Soccer Awards Fuels Marriage Speculation with Georgina Rodriguez

Date:

Cristiano Ronaldo has ignited rumors about his relationship with long-time partner Georgina Rodriguez after referring to her as his “wife” during the 2024 Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai.

The 39-year-old football legend won two prestigious awards at the star-studded event: Best Middle Eastern Player and Top Goalscorer of All Time. During his acceptance speech, Ronaldo dedicated his accolades to Rodriguez and his eldest son, Cristiano Jr., saying:

“It’s a big pleasure to win this trophy. My oldest son is here, my wife [Georgina] is here.”

This remark sent fans into a frenzy, questioning whether the couple, who have been together since 2016, had secretly tied the knot.

Ronaldo’s unexpected comment sparked widespread speculation on platforms like X (formerly Twitter).

– One fan wrote: “Ronaldo calls Georgina ‘MY WIFE,’ yet people still think they’re not married. You think they’d tell you?”

– Another added: “They definitely got hitched.”

– A third shared: “I lived for the moment Cristiano Ronaldo called Georgina his wife. So happy.”

The couple shares two children—Alana Martina (8) and Bella (2)—and Rodriguez plays a devoted role in raising Ronaldo’s other three children: twins Eva and Mateo (7) and Cristiano Jr. (14). Despite their strong family bond, they have never publicly confirmed their marital status.

This isn’t the first time Ronaldo has used the term “wife” for Rodriguez. Over the summer, he referred to her as such during a YouTube video, prompting his publicist to clarify that they had “no knowledge” of a marriage.

In addition to sparking relationship rumors, Ronaldo addressed retirement speculation during his speech. With his 40th birthday approaching in February, the Al Nassr star made it clear he has no plans to hang up his boots anytime soon.

“In one month I’m gonna be 40 years old, but I’m not finished yet,” Ronaldo declared. “I will continue because I want to win titles, I want to be a champion. I want to score more goals and achieve more with the national team.”

While fans continue to debate whether Ronaldo and Rodriguez have made their union official, the football icon remains focused on breaking records and achieving new milestones both on and off the pitch.
