Butler, Pennsylvania, July 2024 – The man who was killed at a rally for former President Donald Trump was identified as Corey Comparetore, according to Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro.
Comparetore, a former fire chief from the area, was remembered as someone who deeply loved his family. “Corey died a hero. Corey dove on his family to protect them last night,” Governor Shapiro said.
Governor Shapiro declined to provide details on the condition of the two other individuals injured in the shooting. However, he ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of Comparetore.
“His wife shared with me that he dove on his family to protect them,” Shapiro stated. He added that the family faces very challenging times ahead and will have an empty seat at their dinner table for the rest of their lives.
Comparetore is being remembered as a stand-up guy who heroically protected his family during the tragic incident. His sacrifice and dedication to his loved ones have left a profound impact on the community.
