Real Madrid Clinch 15th European Cup with Late Goals

Date:

Real Madrid extended their record as kings of Europe by winning their 15th European Cup with a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final at Wembley on Saturday.

Despite being the favorites, the Spanish giants were outplayed for significant portions of the match but managed to break Dortmund’s resistance with late goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Jr.

Veteran right-back Carvajal opened the scoring with a glancing header from a Toni Kroos corner in the 74th minute. This goal invigorated Carlo Ancelotti’s side, who had been struggling to assert their dominance.

Vinicius Jr. sealed the victory in the 83rd minute with a well-placed shot, silencing the vociferous Dortmund fans who had created a formidable atmosphere throughout the match.

The result was harsh on the German side, who missed several key first-half chances, including a close-range shot from Niclas Fuellkrug that hit the post.
