Several key roads including the Dabara to Tank Bypass were closed during the restricted hours. In a separate but related incident Thursday night, an Assistant Sub-Inspector of the Kohat Excise Office and a Customs enforcement constable were killed after terrorists ambushed and set ablaze a government vehicle at a joint checkpoint on the Indus Highway near the Kohat Toll Plaza, Rescue 1122 confirmed. A third official sustained serious injuries and was transferred to District Headquarters Hospital in Kohat. Police launched a search operation and cordoned off the site. Funeral prayers for both killed officials were held Friday morning.
In Balochistan’s Mastung district, security forces separately killed four militants in an intelligence-based operation in the Khad Kocha area under Operation Azm on Friday. Weapons, ammunition, and motorcycles were recovered from the slain militants, and multiple suspects accused of facilitating terrorist activities were arrested. The operation followed Thursday’s killing of a district judge and his security guard by unidentified gunmen on the national highway in Mastung, with an additional sessions judge and another person seriously wounded in the same attack.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned both attacks in the strongest terms, paying tribute to those killed while praising the professional response of security forces. “We will not rest until terrorism is eliminated from the soil of Pakistan,” Sharif said in a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office. He directed relevant authorities to identify and bring to justice those responsible for the Kohat attack and reiterated that anti-state elements would not be allowed to undermine the country’s peace.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid tribute to the 15 personnel killed in Tank. “The brave personnel of the security forces and police sacrificed their lives to crush the evil intentions of the Khawarij,” Naqvi said. Pakistan’s military has consistently accused Afghanistan’s Taliban government of providing sanctuary to TTP militants. Kabul has denied that allegation. There was no immediate comment from the TTP following Thursday’s attack.
